Sekhar Kammula, one of the most respected filmmakers in Telugu Cinema, is currently working with versatile Tamil star hero Dhanush. Titled Kubera, the pan-India film is one of the highly anticipated combinations. Tollywood serior star hero King Nagarjuna is playing a crucial role and National Crush Rashmika Mandanna who scored an epic blockbuster with Animal last year. Aparna Balamurali, Sundeep Kishan and Jim Sarbh also feature in the cast of Kubera. Devi Sri Prasad collaborates with Kammula for the first time. The film is shot simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
But as per the information we received, there is a controversy surrounding the title of the film. According to the source, the title Kubera is registered by producer Narendra. He has lodged a complaint with the film chamber regarding this. Narendra Karimikonda says that he has tried every means to solve the issue amicably without making it an issue but to no avail.
As per an interview he has given to a YouTube channel, he was advised by a person to not drag the matter as it concerned with big people. But Narendra says he invested a huge sum for the film and cannot go back on the title as Kubera is the perfect title for his movie. He says he has approached the chamber but to no avail. Narendra has registered the title long back and had followed the procedure properly.
Whatever the situation, this is second time that Sekhar Kammula movies mired in controversies. We know the plagiarism controversy about the hit number Saranga Dariya in his last movie Love Story. Narendra said that as he has received no response from the people related to the film, he has approached the court and got stay orders. Narendra’s Kubera is already completed and is in the final stages of post-production.
He questions if this is the way to treat small productions which have followed all the regulations. With no other option, Narendra has approached the High Court and is waiting for the response from the production team. He says he’s open to talks but affirms that he would pursue legal course if he is not treated fairly by the film chamber.
Let’s see if the Chamber takes the matter seriously and do justice where it’s due.
